Apple has sent out threat notifications to users in 92 countries, including India, warning them that they may have been targeted by mercenary spyware. The notifications were sent via email to affected users and stated that they have been individually targeted. This is a change from Apple’s previous notifications, which warned about state-sponsored attacks. The threat notification system was launched in 2021 after Apple sued the NSO Group, the maker of Pegasus. These notifications are sent quarterly to potentially affected users.
